Steven Nicholas Bobel

Home City: Newmarket, Ontario
Date of Crash: September 6, 1992

Steve was on his way home from work on Sunday of Labour Day weekend. He was packed and ready to leave for his third year of University. Steve was killed three blocks from home. Neighbours later told us they heard the crash inside their homes it was that loud. Steve's watch still reads 9:50 p.m. - the time it was broken by the impact of the crash - the time our hearts were forever broken.

The fact that Steve was killed by a drunk driver does not personify who he was. Steve was a vital, gentle man who gave of himself to his family, friends and the community. He was enrolled in Film Studies at Ryerson University in Toronto. Steve would no doubt have had a positive impact on generations of people through his passion - making films. Steve, we honour you not for the tragic way you died - too young, with dreams unfulfilled and a great deal of life left to live - but for your generous spirit, kind heart and great sense of humour.
