Low grade for BC from MADD
CKNW AM 980
December 2, 2009

Mothers Against Drunk Driving has released its report on provincial drunk driving laws.

And MADD says BC has room to improve.

Our province is given a "C-Plus", ranked seventh on the list.

Ontario and Manitoba scored highest with A-minuses.

MADD says BC scored poorly on its remedial programs and not having a one to two week administrative license suspension program for drivers who are reasonable believed to be impaired or have blood alcohol concentrations over 0.05.

MADD says BC needs to beef up the graduated licensing program and have a zero blood alcohol limit for all drivers under 21 all drivers in their first five years behind the wheel.

BC did score relatively well for its alcohol interlock and vehicle impoundment programs.
