Before taking that first drink, alcoholics will "play that movie out to its final scene." In other words, they will project forward to losing their employment, their family, their freedom and even the loss of life itself.
So, this holiday, before you get in the car after a few drinks, "play that movie out to its final scene." What do you think? Email: provletters@theprovince.com
The Antigonish chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving has launched it's 5th annual Project Red Ribbon campaign.
The launch took place at St. Ninian's Wednesday.
Antigonish MADD chapter president Sarah Dykstra tells The Hawk the red ribbons serve 2 purposes.
"It's a reminder of them to drive safe and sober, especially during the holiday season. Nobody wants to lose a loved-one over the holidays but it's also a way to honour those people who have lost their lives or who have been injured by impaired driving."
Dykstra says she thinks the message about drinking and driving is getting out, but it is still happening far too often.
