MIDDLESEX, ON, July 16 /CNW/ - On the 13th of July 2007 the Middlesex OPP had received a complaint from a driver on the 402 that a person was drinking beer in a vehicle. Shortly after 7pm on Friday evening the OPP had received a complaint of a man driving down the 402 Highway drinking what appeared to be beer. The OPP had done a check of the vehicle and found that in fact the vehicle was stolen.
The vehicle was located a short time later by the OPP on the 401 Highway and the vehicle driver would not stop for police. Four OPP cruisers were involved in the vehicle stop which avoided a potentially dangerous situation when they performed a moving roadblock, giving the suspect no choice but to pull over. Once the vehicle was stopped, both the vehicle driver and passenger were arrested.
A 22-year-old London, Ontario man is still in custody awaiting a bail hearing. He is facing charges of Flight From Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Probation and Drive Under Suspension.
The 18-year-old passenger also from London, Ontario has been released on a charge of Possession of Stolen Property.
Thankfully due to the actions of the concerned motorist as well as the highly skilled officers, the OPP were able to safely stop the stolen vehicle and take two persons into custody.
