Re: Bar owners upset with Wynyard cop- On behalf of the thousands of victims of impaired driving, MADD Canada is appalled at the disgraceful attitudes of bar owners who are criticizing Sgt. Ron Russell for doing his job and protecting the public.
With people still being killed and injured in impaired driving crashes, and with other alcohol-related harms remaining prevalent, it is inconceivable to us that anyone would question the enforcement of laws aimed at keeping our communities and our roads safe. Considering their annoyance with the enforcement of laws and regulations clearly laid out in the Liquor Licence Act, these bar owners should consider themselves lucky to still have liquor licences.
Sgt. Russell is providing the type of police enforcement that saves lives and reduces alcohol-related harm by preventing over-service and impaired driving. Rather than hosting a town meeting to criticize a crackdown on liquor infractions, they should be thanking him for his commitment to keeping people alive and safe.
